Delphine’s jewelry caught my eye a while back and I remember thinking that I should try and pay her a jewelry visit next time I’m in New York. Since the timing for that hasn’t come yet, I decided to ask her to do the 5 minutes feature instead, so that we could get to know this wonderful designer better.

One of the things I love about Delphine’s jewely are her edgy, chunky rings. And of course the skull rings, but you’ll have to read the post to find out more about those. And then there’s the heartbeat collection, which is funky, and upbeat (and unfortunately copied by some unscrupulous designer) and I was sold on trying to find out more about the jeweler behind these pieces.

Delphine is an expat from France (from beautiful Montpellier to be precise) living in NYC. She started her life in another field but gladly for us she switched to jewelry more than a decade ago and now she does some amazing sculptural pieces. More than a decade ago she started by taking some metalsmith classes and later found her true vocation on wax carving. She mentions that if she wasn’t a jeweler she would be a sculptor, but she already is one. I love that she does modern and minimalist design and I particular like the fact that she is not afraid of volume and shape, which was something that attracted me to her creations from the beginning.

I particularly like that she’s playful with her collections and there is a little bit of edginess in the jewelry she creates. In case you didn’t know she is also an accomplished dancer (see questionnaire answers below) and has a passion for skulls. What else can I say, I do love a bad-ass jeweler. “My studio gets this amazing morning light , even on a gray day like today. I am also quite found of my custom height bench / table “

“ That’s a hard one…currently on heavy rotation: diamond facets snake ring in 18KY. Diamond heartbeat Medium ring in 18KR+Heartbeat ear cuff in silver.”
